As a NAFSA Global Partner, and members of various other organizations, we are often asked to present at conferences throughout the year. This is typically done with co-presenters from the world of international education, so that we are not only providing our expertise and insight from the insurance world - but also delivering real-world examples.
Our session addressed sexual assault and consent as well as helped the attendees prepare to train their international students on the topic. Topics included: how to advise on consent, staying safe, bystander intervention, and how to support your students after an incident. This session was selected as the Region X conference highlight.
Learning Objectives:Our workshop featured a diverse and experienced panel who discussed mental health issues facing Chinese international students. Topics included: challenges faced by Chinese students, obstacles that prevent Chinese international students from seeking treatment (culture, family, etc.), and on-campus programming to help overcome these barriers.
