Rowan University | Seeking Treatment

MDLive Visit

Your insurance plan includes MDLive within the USA, and this should be your first place to seek medical care in non-emergency situations. You can learn more about accessing this on our MDLive page , or by downloading our helpful PDF .

Find a Doctor/Hospital

If your condition is severe or you need in-person medical attention, you can find doctors online that are part of your insurance plan.

  • Urgent Care Centers and Walk-In Clinics are often the best places to seek medical care quickly and you will pay less out-of-pocket.
  • Only use the Emergency Room (ER) in emergency situations. Your plan may include an additional ER deductible that you will have to pay if you seek treatment at the Emergency Room, or it may exclude coverage for non-emergency treatment at the ER.

Insurance ID Card

Make sure you have a copy of your insurance ID card on you when you visit the doctor and present this to them at the time of treatment. If you don’t have your ID card with you at the time of treatment, you may be required to pay for your medical expenses up front.

If you need a copy of your insurance ID card, visit MyDocuments to download it.

Prescription Drugs

Prescriptions filled at an Express Scripts pharmacy will be paid at 100% after the prescription medication co-pay. You can locate an Express Scripts pharmacy in your area using the contact details below.

If you visit an Out-of-Network pharmacy, you must pay in full for your prescriptions and then submit a claim for reimbursement.

In certain areas of the USA there are discounted, or free medication drug programs available which you can utilize to lower your costs — they include:

  • Publix — free medication drug program
  • Walmart — offers a discounted $4 medication drug program.
  • ShopRite — offers free antibiotics when prescribed.

Claims Follow Up

It is your responsibility to follow up with the claims team and make sure your claims are processed and paid! Please follow these guidelines:

In-Network

When seeking medical care in-network, the medical provider will submit your claims electronically for processing, and you will not need to file a claim.

Out-of-Network

If you seek medical care from a provider that is out-of-network, they will not be able to submit your bills directly for payment. You will need to follow these steps to get your claims processed and paid:

  • Complete the claim form with all the details about your injury/illness. You will need to complete a new form for each new injury/illness
  • Include any copies of your bills, receipts, lab charges, and prescriptions
  • Submit your claim form to:
