Linn-Benton Community College | Seeking Treatment

Please follow the guidance below to find the best place to seek medical care when you are sick or injured.

Seeking Medical Care

Find a nearby doctor, clinic, or hospital in the BlueCross BlueShield network. While you are not required to go inside the network, it makes the process easier and will oftentimes reduce your out-of-pocket costs.

Once you are enrolled in your group’s insurance plan, you will receive a Welcome Email from BCBS Global Solutions with instructions on how to register for your BCBS Member Portal. You can register right online through the BCBS Global Solutions website, or through the BCBS Global Solutions Mobile App. Once you’ve registered, you’ll have access to your ID card and will be able to use the online search tool to find doctors and hospitals in your area.

Where to Seek Treatment

Telemedicine

Your plan includes access to Global TeleMD, allowing you to speak with a doctor virtually from the comfort of your own home. This is free to access and is the best first place to seek care for non-emergency situations.

Student Health Center

Many schools have a health center on campus where you can get medical treatment quickly and easily.

Urgent Care Centers/Walk-In Clinics

If you are sick or injured, this is a good place to get immediate medical attention for non-emergency situations, as many are open later and don’t require appointments.

Doctor’s Office

If you’re sick or injured, or need to see a specialist or a primary care doctor, you can make an appointment with an in-network provider for treatment. These appointments need to be scheduled in advance, and a referral may be required depending on the condition and type of doctor you need to visit.

Emergency Room/Hospital

If you have a life-threatening illness or injury, go directly to the Emergency Room or call 911 for ambulance services. Please Note: The ER is for true emergencies only. You may incur additional expenses if you visit the ER for a non-emergency situation.

Where to Seek Medical Care

** Please refer to your policy wording for any deductibles or copays that apply when visiting specific locations.

Insurance ID Card

It is important to ALWAYS present your ID card to your doctor, clinic, hospital, and pharmacy when you arrive. You can access this through your BCBS Member Portal, or, if you have downloaded the BCBS Global Solutions Mobile App, you can also access a digital copy.

If you go to a doctor outside the network or don’t have your ID card with you, you may need to pay for the services up front and submit a claim for reimbursement.

Prescription Medications

Your plan includes access to the BCBS Prescription Rx Network, so you should only need to present your insurance ID card at the pharmacy. You may be required to pay any prescription copay or coinsurance associated with your plan when filling your prescription.

If you are required to pay for the full amount of your medication out-of-pocket for any reason, you will need to file a claim to be reimbursed for your eligible expenses.

Claims Process

When going in-network, the medical facility or pharmacy will send your claim to BCBS directly, so you should not need to file a claim. You can track the status of your claims to view how they’ve been processed through your BCBS Member Portal.

If you were required to pay for any medical services or the full amount of your prescription out of pocket, you will need to file a claim to be reimbursed for your eligible expenses.
