Los Medanos College | Seeking Treatment

Telemedicine

Your insurance plan includes free access to Teladoc virtual telemedicine, allowing you to meet with a doctor via phone, web, or through your mobile app at no additional cost. You can learn more about accessing this on our Telemedicine page, or by downloading this helpful PDF.

Find a Doctor/Hospital

If your condition is severe or you need in-person medical attention, you can find doctors online that are part of your insurance plan.

  • Urgent Care Centers and Walk-In Clinics are often the best places to seek medical care quickly and you will pay less out-of-pocket.
  • Only use the Emergency Room (ER) in emergency situations. Your plan may include an additional ER deductible that you will have to pay if you seek treatment at the Emergency Room.

Insurance ID Card

Make sure you have a copy of your insurance ID card on you when you visit the doctor and present this to them at the time of treatment. If you don’t have your ID card with you at the time of treatment, you may be required to pay for your medical expenses up front.

If you need a copy of your insurance ID card, visit MyDocuments to download it.

Prescription Drugs

Your plan includes a Prescription Rx Network, so you will just need to show your insurance ID card to the pharmacy and pay any applicable copays or your portion of the coinsurance. You can find in-network pharmacies that accept your plan through the Cigna provider search tool.

In certain areas of the USA there are discounted, or free medication drug programs available which you can utilize to lower your costs — they include:

  • Publix — free medication drug program
  • Walmart — offers a discounted $4 medication drug program.
  • ShopRite — offers free antibiotics when prescribed.

Claims Follow Up

If you receive care from an in-network provider within the US, you do not need to submit a claim for reimbursement because your claim will be sent to your insurance company directly for processing. You are only responsible for paying any deductible, coinsurance, or copay amounts that are part of your plan.

If you choose to seek care from an out-of-network provider, you may need to file a claim. Please follow these guidelines:

  • Submit a copy of your invoice, receipt of payment, and a completed claims form to Cigna directly. We recommend submitting your claims through CignaEnvoy.com or the Cigna Envoy App.
  • Track all claims online, or by calling the number on your insurance ID card.
  • Medical records or other documents may be needed in order to process your claim. If this is the case, it is your responsibility to reach out to your doctor to ask that they submit these records to the insurance company on your behalf.
