Telemedicine should be the first place that you seek medical care for non-emergency illnesses and injuries, as it can save you time and money. With your plan, you are free to select any virtual doctor provider of your choice, pay for the visit upfront, and then submit a claim with your insurance company for reimbursement.

Getting Started

You are free to choose the telemedicine provider of your choice. Options include:

Don’t Forget! After your virtual visit, you will need to file a claim with your insurance company to be reimbursed for any eligible expenses associated with your telemedicine visit.

Please note — The cost of telemedicine visits will only be covered under your plan if the treatment is for a covered benefit, and not excluded by any of the plan exclusions and limitations. Please review your policy certificate, in the MyDocuments section of your Student Zone, for your full plan benefits and exclusions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn more about Telemedicine below.

  • What Health Concerns Can Telemedicine Help Treat?

You can use telemedicine to help treat non-emergency health issues like sinus problems, respiratory infections, allergies, flu symptoms, rashes, and many other illnesses.
  • How Does Telemedicine Work?

After you've created your account, it's simple to request a real-time video, app, or phone consultation with a telemedicine provider. A doctor will review your medical history and perform a video exam or phone consultation usually within minutes. You will then receive your medical records and care instructions electronically, along with any necessary prescriptions sent to your local pharmacy. If you require urgent care, you will be immediately referred to the nearest emergency room or urgent care center. The entire telehealth visit is completed on average within 30 minutes or less.
  • How Much Does the Service Cost?

The cost of a telemedicine visit varies, depending on the type of care you are requesting. You will need to visit the website of the telemedicine service of your choice to learn more about how much you will need to pay for the visit.
  • How Can I File a Claim to be Reimbursed?

After your visit, you will want to file a claim through your insurance company to be reimbursed for any eligible expenses you paid upfront. You will need to complete a claim form, and submit a copy of the receipt showing you paid for the visit, as well as the visit summary and medical records available through your telemedicine account. You can learn more about how to file a claim through the Claims Center of your Student Zone.
  • Can I Get a Prescription?

Yes, doctors can submit prescriptions for pick-up at your local pharmacy during your telemedicine visit. You would then need to pay for this upfront and submit a copy of the pharmacy receipt and prescription Rx label when you submit your claim to the insurance company.
  • What if I Need a Referral?

If you are referred for follow-up care outside of telemedicine, any further visits will be handled by your insurance per the benefits of your plan and will need to be submitted to your insurance company for processing.
